Ai Tong School - Twist Stick Flower Pot Workshop

In April, Ai Tong School in Singapore invited us to organise a meaningful Twist Stick Flower Pot Workshop for its National Education (NE) student leaders, preparing them not just in craft-making, but in community leadership.

Organised by Art Loft Creative Studio, the workshop was designed to equip NE leaders with the skills to create vibrant flower pots using twist sticks (pipe cleaners). However, the learning didn't stop there. The students will go on to teach senior citizens how to make the same flower pots in a charity event that aims to bring generations together through creativity and compassion.

"It's not just about making something pretty, it's about sharing knowledge, bridging generations, and giving back"' said Teacher Hong Lin, a coordinator of the NE program. Through this learning workshop making session, I can see that the NE students are very helpful to each other, some of them are fast learners, they learned and observe if any of their friends are unable to catch the skill, they will quickly guide them through and this is how they learn from each other, and sharing thoughts.

The initiative aligns with Ai Tong School's values of National Education, active citizenship, and community engagement. By empowering students to lead intergenerational activities, the school nurtures responsible, compassionate citizens ready to make a difference.
